5 Quick Actions to Improve LinkedIn Marketing

Mar 7, 2019

If you are trying to grow a B2B company, LinkedIn should be your number one focus for marketing. This is the best platform to make connections and reach potential customers, both organically and through paid advertisements. LinkedIn might feel like a major beast to tackle, but we’ve broken it down into 5 quick actions you can complete in just fifteen minutes every day.

  1. Accept and Welcome New Connections

Review any connection requests that came in since you last checked. If you really know them, or they seem like a potentially valuable contact, accept their request. Look out for anything that looks spammy or is completely unrelated.

After you accept, send a quick message of thank you, and to get a conversation going. The earlier you can invest in a new connection, the better.

2. Reply to Messages

Then, look for messages in your inbox and reply to those. Get to know your network and build up those connections. You never know what could become something valuable down the line!

Ask questions and be interested in who they are. If you come off just looking to make a sale, you’ll turn people off. Focus on building relationships, and the rest will come.

3. Post an Update

A daily status update helps to keep you top of mind for your followers and helps build a reputation of an industry thought leader. Whether it’s sharing a relevant article, an observation you make about the industry or congratulating a colleague on an accomplishment, it all holds value.

If you maintain a blog, LinkedIn is a great place to share it. Try adding the blog as a text post within LinkedIn, then link to the page in the comments. While it won’t generate as much traffic to your site, it can really help with post engagement.

You can also schedule a few posts to go out automatically every week, so you can plan ahead if you know you won’t be able to log on.

4. Engage

Check your notifications to see if anyone has responded to comments you’ve made on other posts, or if anyone has commented on your updates.

Take this time to note anyone who has positively interacted with your content. Respond accordingly, and if they aren’t already in your network, send them a connection request.

When you send the request, it might help to send a note introducing yourself. Unless you already know this person well, it will increase the chances that they will accept your request to connect.

5.  Join the Community

Finally, head to the LinkedIn news feed. There you can see status updates and shares from your connections. To finish your daily LinkedIn tasks, go through and read posts from your network. Like, comment, and share to engage with your community.

If there is a person you have been wanting to connect with, go to their activity page to see what they’ve shared, and interact with it there. You can learn more about your connections and what’s important to them while building a stronger relationship.
