How to Optimize Your Company’s LinkedIn Page

Jun 28, 2018

Here’s a social media platform you may have unfortunately ignored – LinkedIn. You know you need one to find jobs, but what about to bring in business? A great company LinkedIn page not only will help you find great candidates for jobs, but also influence potential new clients.

Your LinkedIn Company Page offers a huge opportunity to establish your brand as an industry thought leader and attract top talent. Create a great first impression with these optimization tips:

  1. Update your photo and banner

Just like the other social media sites, you need a quality profile picture and banner photo. We recommend using the same images you’re using on other profiles, like high-quality version of your logo.

Make sure it is cropped to the LinkedIn specifics, which are:

  • 300 x 300 pixels
  • PNG format
  • Maximum 8 MB
  • Square layout

The banner photo is a great place to show your business’s personality. It’s up to you what you show here – your team, your office, your products, a recent award, it all works. Just make sure it fits your brand.

2. Write a Great About Us section

People are visiting your LinkedIn page to learn more about you. Give them the info they need with a descriptive About Us section, and bonus points if you use keywords.

Make sure this section answers these six questions:

  • Who are you?
  • Where are you based?
  • What do you offer?
  • What are your values?
  • What is your brand voice?
  • How can people contact you to learn more?

Just remember that LinkedIn is a professional social network. If your business has a fun edge, you can of course keep it light-hearted. But remember to always be professional first.

3. Post Regularly

LinkedIn allows you to share news that wouldn’t always be appropriate on other social networks. Consider posting these updates as they come up:

  • A new product launch
  • Company award
  • A new job posting
  • Other company news
  • Showing off the culture of your office, like team building activities, birthday celebrations, and more.
  • Introducing new employees (just get their permission first!)
  • Industry updates
  • Blogs or other articles shared on your site.

A robust LinkedIn page helps visitors understand your priorities and learn more about your company. This is great for B2B companies, who can show potential partners that they’re enjoyable to work with.

These updates will show up on the news feed of anyone who follows your page. If your followers like or engage with the post, it will also be promoted on the feeds of their connections.

4. Give Endorsements

Endorsements show up at the bottom of user’s LinkedIn profiles and show off various skills.

Start by endorsing your current employees for their best skills. This will also help encourage your employees to connect with your profile if they haven’t already. Getting your business page on your employees profiles will help build awareness of your company.

You can also write endorsements for someone from another company. This is a a great way to build relationships with other B2B companies. Connect with them from your personal page if appropriate as well.
